NTU Singapore Admission Requirements 2027 for Indian Students: Application Guide

NTU Singapore admission requirements for Indian students are a minimum average of 93% in the Standard 12 board examination (English included; other language and technical subjects excluded), the subject prerequisites for your chosen programme, and an online application submitted between 15 October 2026 and 19 March 2027 for the 2027 intake. NTU does not ask India Standard 12 applicants for the SAT or ACT, JEE-Main is not required, and offers are made only on actual board results.
Updated October 2026 for 2027 entry. Requirements and dates are from official university sources, linked below.
Nanyang Technological University’s window for Indian students opened on 15 October 2026, two months before NUS opens its own on 16 December. This guide covers the dates, the 93% rule and how NTU calculates it, the subject prerequisites that trip up CBSE, ISC and state-board students, interviews and aptitude-based admission, fees, the Tuition Grant and scholarships. If you’d like help with the application itself, see our Singapore undergraduate admissions support. For the other two universities, read our guides to NUS admission requirements for Indian students and SMU undergraduate admissions, or compare all four in NUS vs NTU vs SMU vs SUTD.

NTU application dates for the 2027 intake
NTU sets application windows by qualification. These dates are from NTU’s General Admission Requirements and Important Dates pages (checked October 2026).
| Step | India Standard 12 | IB Diploma |
|---|---|---|
| Application window | 15 October 2026 to 19 March 2027 | 15 October 2026 to 19 March 2027 |
| Final results | Upload your Standard 12 result slip within 3 days of the official release | November 2026 session: by the closing date. May 2027 session: within 3 days of release in July 2027 |
| Access to official results | Result slip uploaded via Check Status (CBSE students include the Admit Card) | Authorise the IBO to release results to NTU: by 19 March 2027 (November session) or end of June 2027 (May session) |
| Estimated outcome | End July 2027 | End April to end July 2027 |
Other things to know before you start:
- One intake a year. The first term usually starts in late July.
- Fee: S$25 for international students, non-refundable, paid by PayNow, Visa or Mastercard. NTU will not process an application until the fee and supporting documents are in.
- Up to five programme choices, with the option to be considered for NTU Honours College signature programmes.
- Use the right form. The India Standard XII form is only for that qualification, and NTU says an application on the wrong form may be treated as void.
- Allow time. The form takes 20 minutes or more, must be completed in one session and cannot be saved halfway. Keep your passport number, Class 10 marksheet and Class 12 details ready.
- Documents: NTU’s table of windows asks for documents to be uploaded against the checklist within three days after the closing date.
NTU Singapore admission requirements for India Standard 12
NTU uses a single India Standard 12 category, so CBSE, ISC and state-board students apply under the same rules. Here is what NTU’s India Standard 12 page asks for (checked October 2026):
| Requirement | What NTU says |
|---|---|
| Academic minimum | Average of 93% or higher, including English, in the Standard 12 board examination. Other language subjects and technical subjects (NTU’s examples: Home Science, Art, Fashion Design) are excluded from the calculation. |
| SAT or ACT | Not required |
| English test | Only if English was not your medium of instruction, or English appears as a second or additional language on your transcript |
| JEE | JEE-Main is not required and does not improve your chances; a strong JEE-Advanced rank is viewed favourably |
| Improvement examinations | You must retake all subjects in the same sitting; results from different sittings are not combined |
| Offers | Made on actual results only; no provisional offers on preliminary results |
Older guides on other websites quote 90%. NTU’s current page says 93%, and meeting it only lets you apply. NTU notes that admission is “highly competitive, especially for non-citizens”, that the admission point varies by year and programme, and that double degrees and double majors are harder to get into than single degrees.
English tests, if you need one
Most CBSE and ISC students are taught in English and need no test; NTU says taking one in that case “will not enhance your chances”. If your schooling was in another medium, these are NTU’s minimums. IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and C1 Advanced scores must be from within two years of the application deadline; SAT and ACT scores are valid for five years.
| Test | NTU minimum |
|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.5 overall, with 6.5 in Writing and Speaking |
| TOEFL iBT | 90 total (or 4.5), with 25 (or 4.5) in Writing and Speaking |
| PTE Academic | 55 overall, Speaking 55, Writing 59 |
| C1 Advanced | 170 overall, Writing 170, Speaking 170 |
| SAT | 1250 total, Reading and Writing 600 |
| ACT with Writing (one sitting) | Composite 30, English 30, Writing 7 |
Olympiad medallists
Gold, silver and bronze medallists of the international Olympiads in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Informatics, Astronomy, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear Science are considered more favourably for related programmes, and may be interviewed. NTU states that this direct admission does not apply to Olympiads conducted in India, such as the International Olympiad of Science or the International Olympiad of Mathematics.
IB Diploma students
NTU asks IB applicants for “a very good combination of 5s, 6s, and 7s” across three Higher Level and three Standard Level subjects, with good Extended Essay and TOK grades. Both Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches and Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation are accepted where Mathematics is required, with no preference between them. May 2027 candidates can apply with predicted grades but cannot apply for Medicine, the Renaissance Engineering Programme, or Arts or Science (Academic Discipline and Education) in this exercise.
Subject prerequisites: the Class 11 decision that matters
Every NTU programme lists minimum subject requirements, written in terms of “junior” (Class 10) and “senior” (Class 12) high school levels. These are from NTU’s minimum subject requirements for international qualifications for the July/August 2027 intake:
| Programme | Minimum subject requirement | Selection test or interview (as listed) |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Science | Mathematics or Physics at senior level | None listed |
| Data Science and Artificial Intelligence | Mathematics at senior level | None listed |
| Computer Engineering; Aerospace, Civil, Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Biology at senior level, plus Physics at junior level if you have not taken Physics at senior level | None listed |
| Business; Accountancy | Additional Mathematics at junior level, and a good grade in English at senior level | Some Accountancy candidates |
| Economics | A good grade in Additional Mathematics at junior level, and a good grade in English at senior level | On a selective basis |
| Psychology | A good grade in Additional Mathematics at junior level, and a good grade in English at senior level | On a selective basis |
| Applied Computing in Finance | Mathematics at senior level, and a good grade in English at senior level | None listed |
| Medicine (LKCMedicine) | Chemistry, and Biology or Physics, at senior level; UCAT; personal statement; two referee reports | Yes |
Indian boards do not offer “Additional Mathematics” at Class 10, so NTU’s India page translates the rule:
- For Accountancy, Business, Communication Studies, Economics, Psychology and Sport Science and Management, you need Mathematics at Standard 12 if Additional Mathematics is not on your junior-level record. Business Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Mathematics and Statistics at Standard 12 are accepted for these programmes. Standard 10 Mathematics and the SAT do not count.
- For programmes that need Mathematics at senior level, such as Applied Computing in Finance, selected Science programmes and double majors, Business Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at Standard 12 do not meet the requirement.
The practical advice: if computing, engineering, data science or a double major is on the list, take core Mathematics in Class 11 and 12, not Applied Mathematics. If the plan is NTU’s single-degree Business, Accountancy or Economics programmes only, any of the Class 12 Mathematics options above will do, but core Mathematics is the safer choice if you are applying elsewhere too.
Aptitude-based admission, interviews and Medicine
NTU says the primary factor in its decision is your high school academic performance. Beyond grades, its aptitude-based admission (ABA) scheme is for students with “exceptional talents or outstanding achievements beyond schools’ co-curricular activities”. To be considered, you:
- give details of your achievements in the ABA section of the form,
- write short-answer responses of no more than 200 words each, and
- arrange at least one, and at most two, online appraisals.
Shortlisted ABA applicants may be interviewed and asked for supporting documents. Separately, Accountancy, Economics and Psychology interview some candidates. Keep the 200-word answers specific: what you did, what changed because of it, and how it links to the programme.
Medicine is effectively closed to Indian Class 12 applicants in the same year. NTU says applicants whose final results are released after 1 April are not eligible for the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) in the current exercise. Gap-year applicants with results in hand also need a UCAT score (for the 2027 intake, the UCAT had to be taken between 13 July and 24 September 2026), a personal statement and two referee reports; shortlisted applicants attend Multiple Mini-Interviews in April. The Renaissance Engineering Programme is open only to Singapore citizens and permanent residents.
NTU fees for Indian students and the Tuition Grant
Fees are set for each new intake. The 2027 figures are not yet published, so here is what NTU charges students who started in Academic Year 2026/2027 (“all other international students”, S$ per year, inclusive of GST, checked October 2026):
| Programme | With MOE Tuition Grant | Without Tuition Grant |
|---|---|---|
| Most programmes | 21,400 | 40,600 (lab-based) or 36,350 (non-lab-based) |
| Accountancy, Business, Applied Computing in Finance, Accountancy and Business, Business and Computing, Business and Computer Engineering | 21,800 | 45,600 |
| Medicine | 91,250 | Not applicable |
The Tuition Grant covers the normal length of the degree. International students who want it must tick the option in the admission form, then choose to accept the offer with or without the grant before NTU’s closing date in July. Taking it means signing the Tuition Grant Agreement, which obliges you to work for a Singapore entity for three years after graduating, and nominating two sureties (Singapore’s Ministry of Education sets the surety rules). Registration happens after you arrive, once you have your matriculation number, student pass and Singpass. Without the grant you pay the higher fee and have no bond. Note that Medicine is listed only with the grant.
Scholarships at NTU for Indian students
NTU’s scholarship window follows the admissions window, and you apply for scholarships before you know your admission result. The scholarship form appears at the end of your online admission application. Two conditions matter:
- Scholarship applications are open only to applicants opting for subsidised fees, meaning those applying for the Tuition Grant.
- NTU may interview shortlisted candidates, and one interview can cover several scholarships.
One example open to Indian students is the Nanyang Global Scholarship, which NTU lists as “open to all nationalities”. It covers subsidised tuition fees after the Tuition Grant, a living allowance of S$6,500 a year, an accommodation allowance of up to S$2,000 a year for students living in NTU hostels, a travel grant of up to S$8,000, a one-off S$2,000 computer allowance and a place in NTU Honours College. It carries no bond beyond the Tuition Grant’s three years, and holders must keep a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 out of 5.0. See our guide to Singapore university scholarships and the Tuition Grant for the full list across universities.
Mistakes Indian applicants make with NTU
- Waiting for NUS to open first. NTU’s window opened on 15 October 2026. Applying early gives you time to fix document issues before 19 March 2027.
- Misreading the 93% rule. It is an average across your board examination subjects including English, with other languages and technical subjects left out. NTU does not describe it as a best-of-five score, so work it out from your full subject list.
- Choosing Applied Mathematics with engineering or computing in mind. It does not satisfy NTU’s senior-level Mathematics requirement for several programmes.
- Partial improvement exams. Retaking two subjects and expecting NTU to combine them with last year’s marks will not work.
- Counting India-run Olympiad medals as direct-admission credentials. NTU excludes them.
- Missing the three-day upload. No upload within three days of results, no decision. CBSE students also need to upload their Admit Card.
- Applying for scholarships after the offer. By then the scholarship window has closed.
Frequently asked questions
Does NTU require the SAT for Indian students?
No. NTU’s India Standard 12 page does not ask for the SAT or ACT. You need an English test only if English was not your medium of instruction. Our article on getting into NUS and NTU without the SAT has more.
What percentage do I need for NTU?
At least a 93% average in the Standard 12 board examination, including English, to apply. Meeting it does not guarantee a place.
Can I apply to NTU before my Class 12 results?
Yes. Apply during the window, then upload your result slip within three days of the official release. NTU decides only once actual results are in.
When will I hear from NTU?
NTU’s estimate for India Standard 12 applicants is end July 2027.
Is JEE useful for NTU?
JEE-Main is not required and does not help. A strong JEE-Advanced rank is viewed favourably.
How GyanOne Helps With Your Application
We help Indian students apply to NTU alongside NUS, SMU and universities in other countries, and our students have earned 55 Singapore admits in a single year. For NTU, that means checking your subject choices against each programme’s prerequisites from Class 10 onwards, working out your 93% average correctly, choosing and ordering your five programme choices, writing the aptitude-based admission answers and briefing appraisers, deciding with your family whether to take the Tuition Grant, preparing scholarship applications and interviews, and tracking the three-day results upload.
You can work with us in two ways. Application-Only Support is for Class 12 students who already have NTU on their list and want expert help with the form, answers, documents and deadlines. Comprehensive University Strategy is for families who want help choosing countries, courses and universities and building a profile from Class 9 onwards. We have no admissions partnerships or tie-ups with any university and are never paid by universities, so our advice is in your child’s interest. Parents are welcome in the process; we work directly with the student. Get help with your NUS, NTU or SMU application.
