Most students working on their application process or just starting to prepare for it have come across this not-so-cherished portion – a video Interview with Kira. It is not welcomed because most first-time candidates are entirely unfamiliar with the concept of a “Kira video interview.” Kira Talent is a video interview platform based in Canada that allows schools to conduct video interviews with potential candidates. Several schools, including those in Canada, Europe, and the United States, only invite students for Skype/in-person interviews after they have passed the Kira interviews. Furthermore, colleges like Imperial and EDHEC only conduct a Kira Interview for their applicants, rather than a two-step process. The Kira interview is merely one component of the overall application process.

Kira Talent Video Interview is a new concept that is convenient for interviewing candidates. It gives you some time to prepare, which varies by school and can range from 30 seconds to 1 minute after each question is answered, but it also allows you to practice before the interview. The Kira talent interview questions give the interviewer a comprehensive view of the applicant, allowing them to assess the applicant’s leadership abilities, communication skills, cognition, and drive.
Even from the standpoint of schools, it appears to be highly effective in determining whether or not a candidate is qualified for the school’s culture, beliefs, and environment. Your interview tapes are typically sent to the alumni and AdCom so they can assess whether you’d be a good match for the institution.

You’ll be asked to register for the Kira Talent Video Interview with your email address as soon as you arrive on the page. Before beginning the practice sessions, you’ll be prompted to set up your device, microphone, and other accessories. You will also receive a step-by-step guide on proceeding with the interview once you have done so.

  • The interview questions, which will range from 2 to 6, will be obtained from a database of questionnaires and will not be personalised.
  • The questions will be random and asked either in writing or via video.
  • After each question, you’ll be given a certain amount of time to prepare an answer.
  • You will be given preparation time before additional time to respond to each spoken question.

It takes a lot of effort to prepare for an interview. To ace an interview, you’ll need time, dedication, and a lot of consistent preparation. You must ensure that your responses are well-framed and adequate, but you must also keep an eye on other elements such as presentation, nerves, etc.

  • Firstly, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the Kira talent interview is critical. Try to grasp what it is, how your profile will be evaluated and on what basis, and what the interviewing process will entail.
  • Learn the most often occurring questions so you can practice answering them. Because the style of interview questions is frequently repeated, practising past questions will aid you in comprehending the structure of the questions posed, allowing you to prepare ahead of time.

  • Get The Basics Right

Make sure you’re ready for the interview. Make sure your internet connection is stable and your microphone and camera operational. Do everything you can to avoid interruptions, and reduce background noise. When you’ve finished the interview, dress as if you’re attending an in-person meeting.

  • Practice

There are no second chances in a Kira Talent interview, so be prepared. To get acquainted with the procedure, practice preparing and delivering your answers in the same time range you’ll have during the interview while recording yourself. You could even watch your responses to see where you can improve.
Even though the questions differ from school to school, there are plenty of examples. Each question is intended to evaluate your motivation and ability.

  • Articulate your Plans & Motivations

Schools want to know why their program is a good fit for you, so work hard on communicating this. Consider why you’re seeking the program at this point in your career, your career goals, and how this program will assist you in achieving them. You should do your homework on the program to show you know what makes it unique.

  • STAR – Method to answer Competency-based Questions

This method can help you respond to open-ended interview questions that ask you to describe when you displayed a desirable ability or trait. STAR stands for situation, task, action, and outcome, and it’s a step-by-step method for converting your experience into a cohesive story.

Begin by outlining the situation, then go over your assignment. What were you in charge of? What were you hoping to achieve? After that, go over the steps you took to reach your goal.

  • Avoid Reading or Memorising Your Answers

Interviews allow recruiters to learn more about you as a person, and a pre-recorded interview is no exception. Kira interviews, unlike live interviews, give you time to prepare your response, so it’s tempting to make notes of what you want to say and read it out.

Similarly, even if you’ve practised a question multiple times, you should never come across as having a ready-made response.

Rather than writing and reciting an essay, prepare a list of the points you wish to make and speak about them. Personal interviews are one of the most nerve-wracking aspects of the application process, but a little bit of planning may go a long way.
