ISB PGP Application 2026: Deadlines, Eligibility & Essay Guide

ISB assesses verified applications across academics, test scores, professional experience, extracurricular activity, essays, awards and the recommendation. It interviews shortlisted candidates, after which the Admissions Committee of faculty and alumni makes the final decision.

Armed Forces service counts, and ISB considers it in the context of the responsibilities you handled. ISB accepts full-time family-business experience when you can document it.

When does ISB count your work experience?

What you need to know in 60 seconds

If you’re planning your ISB PGP application 2026, here’s what you need to know: if you submit your application in 2026, you’re applying to the Class of 2028, which enrolls in 2027. There are three deadlines. Round 1 closes on 20 September 2026, Round 2 on 6 December 2026, and Round 3 on 17 January 2027.

You need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, a valid test-center GMAT or GRE score, and at least 24 months of full-time work experience before enrollment. The application carries two mandatory essays of 400 words each, one optional essay of 250 words, and one recommendation. Shortlisted candidates sit an interview lasting approximately 30 minutes and complete two on-the-spot essays.

Applicants looking for professional support across the complete process can also review GyanOne’s ISB PGP admissions guidance.

What is the ISB PGP application 2026 cycle?

Applications opening during 2026 are for the PGP Class of 2028, with deadlines running from September 2026 to January 2027. ISB confirms that applications are open for this class and that the online form for each round opens approximately two months before that round’s deadline.

Which class are 2026 applicants applying to?

Applicants submitting in 2026 or January 2027 are applying to the Class of 2028, which enrols in 2027 and graduates in 2028.

ISB uses two labels for the same admissions cycle. Its deadlines page calls it the Class of 2028, while the eligibility page describes the test-score windows as the 2027–2028 cycle. Some ISB pages also continue to display text from the previous cycle.

Use the current deadlines page and live application portal as the authoritative sources. As of 29 July 2026, the deadlines page shows applications open for the Class of 2028.

How does the ISB PGP differ from PGP YL, and what happened to the EEO?

The PGP is a 12-month programme for applicants with at least 24 months of full-time work experience. PGP YL is a separate 20-month programme for final-year students, recent graduates and professionals with up to 24 months of experience.

ISB has discontinued both the earlier Young Leaders’ Programme and the Early Entry Option, which offered deferred entry into the PGP. Advice about using the EEO to secure a future PGP place is therefore out of date.

GyanOne analysis. Candidates near the 24-month line often try to solve a programme-selection question with an application-writing answer. Someone who will have 24 months of full-time experience by 31 March 2027 is a PGP applicant. Someone who will not should examine PGP YL, where the essays, recommender choice and career argument are different.

What are the ISB PGP application deadlines for the Class of 2028?

Round 1 closes on 20 September 2026, Round 2 on 6 December 2026 and Round 3 on 17 January 2027. Applications submitted after the first two deadlines automatically roll into the next round.

ISB cannot accept applications for the Class of 2028 after 17 January 2027, and a candidate may apply only once in an application year.

Round Deadline GMAT or GRE must be dated between
Round 1 20 September 2026 21 September 2021 and 20 September 2026
Round 2 6 December 2026 7 December 2021 and 6 December 2026
Round 3 17 January 2027 18 January 2022 and 17 January 2027

ISB publishes these test-score validity windows on its eligibility page. Its online application for each round normally opens approximately two months before the deadline. ISB evaluates incomplete applications from an earlier round in a later round once you complete them.

Which ISB application round should you choose?

ISB’s stated position is that competition is the same across all three rounds and that applying in one round rather than another does not materially change your chances of selection.

The scholarship argument for Round 1 deserves the same scrutiny. ISB states that it awards tuition waivers to deserving candidates regardless of application round. The sound reason to apply early is the additional time available for financing, notice periods, and relocation, which is also the reason ISB gives.

For a deeper decision framework, read GyanOne’s comparison of ISB Round 1 versus Round 2. Note that the linked article predates the present cycle, so its strategic principles should be read alongside the current official rules stated here.

GyanOne’s readiness-adjusted round rule. Apply in the earliest round in which your application is strategically complete rather than merely technically complete.

Technically complete means the form will submit. Strategically complete means your test score is the one you intend to present, your short-term goal names an industry, function and geography, your recommender has agreed and has useful material, your résumé leads with current scope rather than college positions, and your two essays prove different things.

Waiting is justified when the gap between rounds will produce something identifiable, such as a promotion landing in October or a retake already booked. Waiting because the essays still feel unfinished is a different problem, and it may feel exactly the same in December.

Who is eligible for the ISB PGP?

You need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised institution, a valid test-centre GMAT or GRE score, and a minimum of 24 months of full-time work experience before enrollment. ISB accepts three-year Indian undergraduate degrees and does not require 16 years of formal education.

When does ISB count your work experience?

ISB assesses the 24-month minimum before enrolment rather than on the day you submit the application. Its main PGP page describes the requirement as 24 or more months as of 31 March.

This matters for candidates applying in Round 1 with only 20 or 21 months of experience at submission.

What counts as full-time work experience?

Part-time work does not count. A CA articleship may add to your professional exposure, but ISB does not count it towards the minimum work-experience requirement.

Armed Forces service counts, and ISB considers it in the context of the responsibilities you handled. ISB accepts full-time family-business experience when you can document it.

One rule catches family-business applicants out regularly. ISB will not accept a recommendation from your father, friends or family members. The evaluator should have a strictly professional relationship with you, such as with a client, vendor, or auditor.

Is there a minimum undergraduate percentage or CGPA?

No. ISB states that there is no minimum percentage or CGPA requirement. The Admissions Committee considers the institution, course selection and performance trajectory rather than relying on a single number.

ISB also adds that successful candidates typically demonstrate strong academic capability, which is the qualifier applicants tend to overlook.

GyanOne analysis. A weak undergraduate record raises one question: can you manage a quantitatively demanding curriculum taught at speed?

Answer it through evidence rather than apology.

Do not automatically use the optional essay to explain weak academics. The current optional prompt asks about worldview and classroom contribution, not general additional information. Use a separate explanation field only if the live application provides one and the context is genuinely material.

Do international applicants face different criteria?

ISB evaluates international and Indian applicants through the same admissions process and states that it does not operate admission quotas. Its FAQ requires TOEFL or IELTS for non-Indian applicants who did not have English as the primary language of instruction during undergraduate study.

One further point is worth checking before you commit. ISB states that the PGP is neither a degree nor a diploma because only universities can award degrees in India.

The programme holds AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS accreditation, and the Financial Times ranked ISB 12th globally in its Global MBA Ranking 2026. If an employer, regulator or immigration route requires a degree certificate specifically, verify its treatment of the PGP before enrolling.

Eligibility is not competitiveness. Meeting every criterion above establishes that ISB can consider your application. It does not establish how your academics, score, progression, leadership evidence, and career goal will be read together within your applicant sub-pool. A rigorous MBA profile evaluation should examine those factors together rather than treating any one number as decisive.

What GMAT or GRE score do you need for the ISB PGP application 2026?

ISB publishes no minimum GMAT or GRE score and states that it has no preference between the two tests. The GRE, GMAT 10th Edition and GMAT Focus Edition are accepted.

Only test-centre scores are valid, and online or at-home scores have not been accepted since the April 2025 intake. Integrated Reasoning is not considered.

Applicants still deciding which test to take should compare the formats, scoring and personal fit rather than assume one is inherently easier. GyanOne’s guide to choosing between the GMAT and GRE for an MBA explains the broader decision.

Does “no minimum” mean the score does not matter?

No. It means there is no published number that triggers automatic rejection. It does not mean that the score carries no weight.

ISB’s FAQ reports a current-class GMAT range of 530 to 780 and a GRE range of 319 to 330. Read those numbers carefully. ISB does not identify the class year in that answer or separate the GMAT 10th Edition from the Focus Edition, which use different scoring scales.

Clear Admit reports that the Class of 2026 had an average GMAT score of 720 on the 10th Edition and 669 on the Focus Edition. It reports a Focus range of 555 to 765 and a 10th Edition range of 640 to 780.

Comparing a Focus score with a 10th Edition average is one of the most common self-assessment errors applicants make.

GyanOne analysis. The useful question is whether your score provides enough evidence of academic readiness when read alongside your undergraduate record and applicant sub-pool.

A 690 Focus score attached to a weak academic history and a very common profile is doing different work from the same score attached to a strong academic record and an unusual career.

How long is a score valid, and can you submit an unofficial one?

A GMAT or GRE score is valid for five years from the test date and must remain valid on the deadline of the round in which you apply.

ISB permits an unofficial test-centre score when the test has been taken by the application deadline. You upload the test confirmation email, enter your approximate scores and arrange for the testing agency to send the official report directly.

ISB’s FAQ asks for the official report within three weeks of application submission. The reporting code is N2D-J5-01 for the GMAT and 7010 or 7892 for the GRE.

Should you retake before applying?

GyanOne analysis. Weigh four things: how far the score sits below the working range for your applicant sub-pool, whether your academic record already answers the readiness question, whether a meaningful improvement is achievable before the deadline, and what delaying the application could add elsewhere.

A promotion landing in November may strengthen the application more than a marginal score increase. A retake makes sense when the score leaves academic readiness unresolved. It does not repair a vague goal, weak progression or a recommender who has not observed your work closely.

The test is the only component with a visible scoreboard, which makes it the easiest place to hide from the harder diagnosis. Applicants whose scores are below their target range should review the broader options in this guide to building an MBA application with a low GMAT score before automatically postponing the application.

What does the ISB PGP application include?

The application is completed online and can be saved across multiple sessions. It asks for every role and employer, including designation, employment type, compensation, duration, industry and function.

The supporting material includes transcripts from every academic institution attended, identity documentation, a photograph, test scores, awards and activities, two mandatory essays, one optional essay, one recommendation and the application fee.

Unofficial transcripts are accepted initially, with official documents requested if you receive an offer. Reapplicants receive a 50 percent application-fee waiver.

Your résumé has to make progression, scope and impact visible without assuming that the reader understands your employer or industry. GyanOne’s MBA admissions résumé guide explains how to express achievements concisely rather than reproduce a job description.

What happens after you submit?

ISB checks the completeness and accuracy of the application within 20 days. If a document is missing or information does not match, you have three days to resolve the insufficiency.

Only applications marked “Verified” proceed to the structured admissions review.

ISB assesses verified applications across academics, test scores, professional experience, extracurricular activities, essays, awards, and recommendations. It interviews shortlisted candidates, after which the Admissions Committee of faculty and alumni makes the final decision.

ISB may subsequently invite some shortlisted applicants to scholarship interviews.

The three-day correction window is the most avoidable failure point in the process. Submitting the application is not a reason to stop checking your email or portal.

What are the ISB essay questions for the Class of 2028?

ISB currently requires two mandatory essays and offers one optional essay. It asks applicants to provide new information rather than repeat what appears elsewhere in the application.

Applicants working on the complete set should use the current prompts below first, then consult GyanOne’s broader MBA essay analyses and application-writing guidance for additional frameworks.

Essay Limit Prompt What the reader should learn
Leadership Essay 400 words What unique experiences have shaped who you are? What have these experiences taught you about leadership and the kind of leader you aspire to be? How you behave when outcomes depend on other people
Learning Approach Essay 400 words What intellectual experiences have influenced your approach to learning and have led you to pursue an MBA? Please describe using anecdotes from your own experiences. How you absorb complexity and why an MBA is the next step
Optional Essay 250 words Share any intellectual pursuits, unique perspectives or experiences that shaped your worldview, and explain how they could contribute to the learning community. A relevant dimension of you that the other essays cannot reach

Verify the wording inside the live application before drafting, since the portal is the final authority.

How should you approach the leadership essay?

The prompt asks what shaped you and what it taught you. Most drafts answer a different question: what you delivered and how much it was worth.

A project completed on schedule with a large stakeholder group is a competence claim, and ISB already has your résumé for that.

Choose a situation in which you could plausibly have chosen otherwise. Show the constraint, the decision, the cost you carried and what you now do differently.

Four hundred words will hold one such situation properly, or three of them badly.

How should you approach the learning approach essay?

This essay carries two loads. It asks how you learn, using anecdotes, and why that approach has led you to pursue an MBA.

Candidates routinely answer the first half and abandon the second. They produce an essay about intellectual curiosity that never explains why the next stage of learning needs to happen at a business school rather than through a certification or lateral move.

The strongest versions show a pattern rather than a single episode. They also include an instance in which evidence caused the applicant to change a position rather than simply learn a new skill.

Should you write the optional essay?

Write it when you have something neither mandatory essay can carry, such as a sustained intellectual pursuit, an unusual professional or personal perspective, or serious work outside your formal role that would shape your contribution to the class.

Skip it when the draft repeats your career goals or repackages a résumé entry. This is not a general “anything else” essay, so do not use it by default to defend a test score or explain ordinary academic weakness.

How should the two mandatory essays work together?

The GyanOne Evidence Triangle. A strong ISB application proves three things across its components.

Leadership behaviour: how you act when results depend on influencing other people.

Learning agility: how you absorb complexity, recognise mistakes and change your mind.

Future contribution: what distinctive capability or perspective you bring into the classroom.

The two mandatory prompts map onto the first two. The optional essay, résumé, recommendation and interview help carry the third.

Applications fail here through duplication. Two essays drawn from the same project, with the same people and the same three months of your life, leave the reader knowing one thing about you after 800 words.

At 400 words each, story selection matters more than sentence polish.

Can you use AI and still be authentic?

You can use AI to test structure, identify repetition and check whether a paragraph answers the prompt. Outsourcing the thinking is a different matter, and ISB’s process makes it costly.

Shortlisted candidates write two on-the-spot essays under time pressure. A written voice you cannot reproduce live is a problem you have scheduled for yourself.

The hard part of an ISB essay is rarely the prose. It is deciding which two experiences out of fifteen should define the application, what each experience proves and how the pair build one coherent case.

How should you choose your ISB recommender?

Choose someone who has observed your work closely in the recent past and can describe your abilities, areas for improvement and overall performance through specific examples.

ISB requires one evaluation, submitted online through a link sent to the recommender. There is no prescribed document template.

Applicants who are uncertain about confidentiality and access should also understand the implications of waiving the right to view an MBA recommendation letter.

Should it be your current manager?

Usually, but proximity matters more than the reporting line.

The test is whether the person can describe a decision you made, the constraint you faced and what you did that a competent peer might not have done. A director two levels above you who signs off on your work but has never watched you manage a difficult stakeholder cannot write that evaluation.

GyanOne analysis. With one recommendation, there is no second evaluator to cover a gap. At schools requiring two, one person might carry commercial impact while another covers people leadership. At ISB, one person may need to do both.

Brief the recommender properly. Share your career goal, the broad themes covered elsewhere in the application and two or three incidents that may help them recall useful evidence.

Do not script the evaluation for them.

What should reapplicants do differently?

ISB states that reapplicants typically represent 20 to 25 percent of its applicant pool and that many successful students were admitted on a second or third attempt.

Reapplicants receive a reduced application fee, write a dedicated reapplicant essay and are evaluated with no advantage or disadvantage relative to first-time applicants.

Whether to keep the same recommender depends on what has changed. If your scope has grown under that manager, a new evaluation describing a larger role can be valuable. If neither the role nor the evidence has changed, submitting a nearly identical evaluation tells ISB that too.

The central task is to change the evidence rather than merely rewrite the old application. GyanOne’s guide for ISB reapplicants examines that distinction in more detail.

How does ISB evaluate and shortlist applicants?

ISB describes a structured, holistic review rather than a public numerical formula. Verified applications are assessed across academic credentials, test scores, professional experience, extracurricular activity, essays, awards and the recommendation.

ISB states that these factors are combined into a final profile score used for interview shortlisting.

No public ISB source provides numerical weights for individual application components. Forum claims about internal weightings or hidden cut-offs should therefore be treated as speculation.

Holistic evaluation permits contextual compensation, not the disappearance of weaknesses. Strong professional progression can help carry an average score. It cannot make the score invisible, and it will not rescue an application that leaves academic readiness unresolved everywhere else.

How does ISB read applicants from crowded backgrounds?

GyanOne analysis: profile density matters more than profile labels.

Engineers are not penalised for being engineers. The difficulty is arithmetic. When thousands of applicants share your degree, employer type and years of experience, credentials that felt distinctive inside your company stop carrying much information.

Differentiation comes from progression, decisions you personally owned, the commercial or organisational consequence of your work, and a career thesis that follows specifically from your experience.

An IT services engineer with four years of experience and a goal of moving into consulting is difficult to distinguish from hundreds of applicants. The same engineer targeting supply-chain technology transformation for mid-market Indian manufacturers, with relevant delivery experience behind the goal, is a different application.

What separates two candidates with four years each is how much responsibility, judgement and stakeholder complexity has been compressed into those years.

What happens in the ISB interview?

Shortlisted candidates receive three to seven days’ notice and sit an interview lasting approximately 30 minutes. The panel may include ISB faculty, alumni and senior staff.

Candidates may express a preference for a virtual interview over Zoom or an in-person interview at an available tier-1 city location, although the Admissions Team makes the final assignment. ISB states that both formats are evaluated equally.

There is no group discussion. Candidates also complete two on-the-spot essays as part of the interview process.

ISB’s FAQ still contains an older answer referring to telephone and Skype interviews for overseas candidates. The current eligibility and requirements page specifies Zoom or in-person interviews and is the version applicants should plan around.

What gets asked, and how should you prepare?

Panels vary, and published question banks are unreliable. The areas that recur include career progression and the reasoning behind each move, leadership decisions, why an MBA and why now, why ISB, the credibility of your goals, inconsistencies in the application and current developments in your professional domain.

Candidates who need a structured practice process can use GyanOne’s MBA interview preparation guide and mock-interview service.

The GyanOne Consistency Test. Every significant claim should survive across six surfaces: your résumé, application form, essays, recommendation, interview answers and on-the-spot essays.

The more these read like descriptions of different people, the weaker the application becomes. Preparation should therefore start with your submitted application rather than a bank of model answers.

Read what you sent, identify the three claims a sceptical reader would probe and prepare a specific example for each.

How much does the ISB PGP cost, and what scholarships exist?

ISB states that the programme fee for the 2027–28 academic year is ₹34,48,000 plus GST for shared accommodation and single-instalment payment. A refundable security deposit of ₹20,000 is payable separately.

The published fee is indicative and may be revised.

When accepting an offer, an admitted candidate initially pays a partially refundable admission fee of ₹3,00,000 plus taxes within the deadline in the offer, normally 10 days. This amount forms part of the overall academic fee rather than being an additional programme charge.

ISB’s fees page states that approximately 25 percent of PGP students receive financial support each year. All applicants are automatically considered for merit-linked waivers of 25 to 100 percent of tuition.

ISB also offers diversity and need-cum-merit waivers, and each applicant may receive only one tuition waiver. GyanOne’s broader guide to MBA scholarship strategy explains why a high test score or application to a lower-ranked school does not automatically produce funding.

Two published inconsistencies matter when planning.

First, ISB’s May 2026 announcement states that scholarships worth more than ₹12 crore were awarded to approximately 13 percent of the incoming Class of 2027, while the fees page says approximately 25 percent of PGP students receive financial support each year. These descriptions should not be treated as interchangeable.

Second, the FAQ states that annual family income must not exceed ₹18 lakh for need-based aid, while the current fees page lists need-cum-merit bands extending to ₹20 lakh. Confirm the live requirement in the application portal before relying on either threshold.

Build your budget on the assumption that you will pay the published fee. Treat a tuition waiver as an outcome for which you may qualify, not one on which the financial case depends.

What do the class profile and placement outcomes show?

Class-profile and placement data describe different cohorts. Conflating them is one of the most common errors in ISB coverage.

Metric Cohort Figure
Class size Class of 2027, currently enrolled 839 students: 424 at Hyderabad and 415 at Mohali
Average age Class of 2027 26
Work-experience range Class of 2027 Two to 18 years
Women Class of 2027 More than 45 percent
Backgrounds Class of 2027 More than 12 industries and 15 functional areas
Graduating class size Class of 2026 808
Job offers Class of 2026 1,117
Average compensation Class of 2026 ₹37.29 lakh per annum, up approximately 11 percent
Highest offer Class of 2026 ₹1.56 crore per annum
International offers Class of 2026 30, up from 26 the previous year
Industry switchers Class of 2026 67 percent
Function switchers Class of 2026 69 percent

Here’s a condensed, active-voice version (under 300 words):

GyanOne’s placement analysis

ISB draws the Class of 2027 profile from its May 2026 incoming-class announcement, and the Class of 2026 placement figures from its graduation release dated 6 April 2026.

ISB also reported that consulting, technology and BFSI firms led hiring, Accenture extended more than 100 offers, and the average post-placement CTC exceeded the cohort’s average pre-ISB CTC by 156 percent.

The most useful figures here aren’t the headline numbers. Sixty-seven percent of the Class of 2026 switched industries and 69 percent switched functions — figures that tell an applicant planning a transition more than the highest salary does.

Even the average salary needs context: it spans 808 graduates with different pre-MBA industries, roles and experience levels. Your outcome will track your own background, target sector and the credibility of your transition more closely than it tracks the class average.

ISB does not guarantee placements, and it doesn’t offer a summer internship since the PGP runs for just one year. Placements usually start in November or December, with some international recruitment beginning earlier.

GyanOne analysis. This compressed structure changes what a credible career switch looks like — there’s no internship to test a new function before full-time recruiting begins. Applicants chasing three unrelated goals risk losing the part of the year when their recruiting story needs to become coherent. Goal clarity is therefore both an admissions issue and a placement issue.

Weigh the full cost of attendance and foregone earnings against the career change the programme can realistically deliver. Our guide to choosing the right MBA and assessing its ROI offers a broader framework for that calculation.

What is a realistic ISB application timeline?

For Round 1 on 20 September 2026, an applicant starting on 29 July has fewer than eight weeks. That is enough only when the test strategy, career goal and recommender choice can be settled quickly.

Where one of those still requires fundamental work, Round 2 may produce the stronger application.

In an ideal cycle, begin four to six months before the deadline with profile diagnosis, test planning and career-goal work. By three months out, lock the test plan, choose and brief the recommender, rebuild the résumé around current scope, and select essay stories that cover different ground.

Use the final six to eight weeks for drafting the essays and completing the form. The final month should focus on consistency and document verification. The final week is for submission mechanics rather than new strategy.

A test plan can sometimes be compressed. Recommender trust, meaningful reflection and genuine career clarity usually cannot.

What do applicants most often get wrong?

Misconception What is actually true
ISB has an unofficial GMAT cut-off ISB publishes no minimum; its FAQ reports a broad current-class range without separating GMAT editions
The EEO is still available ISB has discontinued both the EEO and the earlier YLP deferred-entry route
Final-year students should apply to the PGP They should examine PGP YL, which is designed for candidates with up to 24 months of experience
Round 1 is better for scholarships ISB states that waivers are awarded regardless of application round
Virtual interviews are weaker ISB states that virtual and in-person formats are evaluated equally
A more senior recommender is always better ISB asks for someone who has observed your work closely in the recent past
Holistic evaluation means academics stop mattering ISB considers the institution, course selection and performance trajectory
The placement average predicts your offer It describes 808 graduates with widely different backgrounds and experience levels
Reapplying counts against you ISB states that reapplicants receive no advantage or disadvantage

How can you tell whether your profile is competitive for ISB?

Eligibility and competitiveness are separate questions, and the second cannot be answered from a class-profile page.

GyanOne analysis. Eight questions reveal most of what matters:

Does your academic record raise a question that nothing else in the file answers?

Does your test score provide enough evidence of readiness within your applicant sub-pool?

Has your responsibility grown in a way a stranger can see from the résumé?

Can you name a situation in which an outcome depended on you persuading someone?

What in your profile is uncommon among applicants with similar credentials, and can you prove it?

Does your short-term goal identify an industry, function and geography for which a plausible recruiting path exists?

What would the class gain from your presence?

Is there enough time before your chosen deadline to repair what these questions expose?

Most candidates assess only some of these accurately. The blind spots are usually the parts costing them the admit.

Should you get an ISB profile evaluation?

Not everyone needs one. Applicants with a clear career thesis, an honest assessment of their weaknesses and enough time can build a strong application independently.

An evaluation becomes more useful when the profile is uneven, the proposed transition changes both industry and function, the retake decision remains unresolved, the background is common within the ISB pool, or a previous application failed for reasons you cannot identify.

Request a candid ISB profile evaluation. GyanOne will give you an honest assessment of where the application stands, what needs to change before your chosen round and whether waiting for a later round or another year would produce the better decision.

Frequently asked questions about the ISB PGP application

Which class are applicants submitting in 2026 applying to?
Applications submitted in 2026 and January 2027 are for the ISB PGP Class of 2028, which enrols in 2027. ISB describes the corresponding test-score window as the 2027–2028 application cycle.

What is the ISB application deadline for 2026?
The ISB PGP Class of 2028 has three deadlines. Round 1 closes on 20 September 2026, Round 2 on 6 December 2026 and Round 3 on 17 January 2027. Applications submitted after the first two deadlines roll into the next round. ISB cannot accept applications for this class after 17 January 2027.

How much work experience does the ISB PGP require?
A minimum of 24 months of full-time work experience before enrolment. Part-time work does not count, and a CA articleship does not qualify towards the minimum. Armed Forces service and documented full-time family-business experience are accepted.

Can final-year students apply to the ISB PGP?
Final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students, recent graduates and professionals with fewer than 24 months of work experience should examine PGP YL rather than the PGP. ISB has discontinued the former YLP and Early Entry Option deferred-entry routes.

Does ISB have a minimum GMAT or GRE score?
No. ISB publishes no minimum and states no preference between the two tests. Only test-centre scores are accepted. Its FAQ reports a current-class GMAT range of 530 to 780 and a GRE range of 319 to 330, but does not separate the two GMAT scoring editions in that range.

How long is a GMAT or GRE score valid for ISB, and can I submit an unofficial one?
The score is valid for five years from the test date and must remain valid on the deadline of the round in which you apply. An unofficial test-centre score may be submitted when the test has been taken by the deadline, with the official report sent to ISB afterwards.

When does ISB require TOEFL or IELTS?
ISB’s FAQ requires TOEFL or IELTS for non-Indian applicants who did not have English as the primary language of instruction during undergraduate study.

How many essays does ISB require?
Two mandatory essays of 400 words each, covering leadership and the applicant’s approach to learning, plus one optional essay of 250 words about intellectual pursuits, perspectives or experiences that shaped the applicant’s worldview and potential classroom contribution. Reapplicants also write a dedicated reapplicant essay.

How many recommendations does ISB require?
One. The applicant supplies the evaluator’s name, phone number and official email address, after which ISB sends the evaluator an online link. ISB does not require a separate PDF template. Family members are not accepted as evaluators.

How long is the ISB interview, and does it include written work?
The interview lasts approximately 30 minutes and is conducted by a panel that may include ISB faculty, alumni and senior staff. It may take place over Zoom or in person, and ISB states that both formats are evaluated equally. Candidates also complete two on-the-spot essays.

Does ISB offer scholarships?
Yes. ISB’s fees page states that approximately 25 percent of PGP students receive financial support each year. All applicants are automatically considered for merit-linked tuition waivers, while need-cum-merit aid requires an essay and income documentation. Published ISB pages currently conflict on the applicable family-income ceiling, so applicants should verify it in the portal.

How should an ISB reapplicant improve the application?
By changing the evidence rather than merely rewriting the same story. ISB states that reapplicants typically form 20 to 25 percent of the pool and face no advantage or disadvantage. The dedicated reapplicant essay should show meaningful changes in responsibility, accomplishments, self-awareness, or career clarity.
