IIMA PGPX: how to prepare for the application
With the IIMA PGPX deadlines 2016 released, PGPX applicants should start creating a schedule and plan to approach the IIMA PGPX application. Some things to be kept in mind as you go about doing this:
- Start early, if possible: Taking the GMAT requires preparation and planning. Getting your stories for the application together takes time. The deadline is merely the last date for submitting your application. It is not the first opportunity. Plan to submit a month earlier and keep some slack time towards the end in your planning. That way, even if some things slip, you will still meet the deadline well. If possible, aim for Round 1.
- Do not underestimate the essays and recommendations: The IIMA PGPX process is very competitive. Not only do you need a strong GMAT score and a good overall profile, but you also need strong essays, and clear career goals reflected through these essays. Creating strong essays takes time and skills.
- Address your weaknesses now: If you have a weak GMAT score, do not know who to ask for a recommendation, or need to research your post-MBA industry better to understand your career goals, do it now. Post July-August, it will be too late to do these things in time for the deadline.
